Williams, Senior Purchasing Assistant C, tx] May 15, 2002 Proposed Resolution No. 11731 RECOMMENDATION The City Council's authorization and approval is requested to award the Paging Service Contract for the City of Port Arthur to Metrocall Wireless of Houston, Texas for an estimated amount of $5,100.00. BACKGROUND The bid was advertised in the Port Arthur News on March 3 mid March 10, 2002. Bid packages were mailed to eight vendors, and two bids were received on March 27, 2002. Metrocall Wireless is the current provider for City, and their service has been satisfactory. This is a one year contract that is renewable for two additional years. A RESOLUTION AWARDING PAGER SERVICE WITH STATE AND LOCAL COVERAGE TO METROCALL WIRELESS OF HOUSTON TX FOR AN ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF $5,100 FOR THE CURRENT YEAR. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT the City Council of the City of the City of Port Arthur hereby awards a contract for Digital Phone Service with State and Local Coverage to the best and lowest responsible bidder Metrocall Wireless; and, THAT, the City Council of the City of Port Arthur hereby the approves the contract between the City of Port Arthur and Metrocall Wireless of Houston, Texas in the estimated amount of Five Thousand One Hundred Dollars; and, THAT the City Manager of the City if Port Arthur is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Port Arthur an agreement in substantially the same form as attached hereto as Exhibit "A" between the City of Port Arthur and Metrocall Wireless for the proposed rate plan as denoted in Exhibit "B". The term of this Contract shall be one (.1) year beginning and terminating __ 2003, renewable at the City's sole option on an Annual basis for up to two (2) additional one-year periods. 2. During the term of this Contract, the Contractor will furnish at his own expense all of the materials, supplies, tools, equipment, labor and other services necessary to connection therewith, excepting those supplies specifically not required of Contractor in the Specifications. 3. The CONTRACTOR agrees to perform all. of the work described in "Exhibit A" (Specifications) and comply with the terms therein for the following amounts: a. Digital Pager with Local Coverage is b. Digital Pager with State Coverage is c. Alpha Pager with Local Coverage is d. Alpha Pager with State Coverage is $3.15 per month $4.45 per month $5.25 per month $6.95 per month 4. If through mistake or otherwise any such provision is not inserted or is not correctly inserted, the Contract shall be amended to make such insertion on application by either party. 7.
