Water and Sewer Taps
COMMENTS
Currently water and sewer tap fees are identified in Sections 110-61 and 110-168 of the City's Code of
Ordinances. Generally residential taps are $300 or $450 for water and $300 and $450 for sewer, depending
on size. Port Arthur's tap fees are shown on the attached table along with various other cities.
During the past year, our contractor performed 257 taps at an average cost to the City of $389, excluding
materials. City forces performed 131 taps. The average residential tap performed by our crews was $521 for
labor and equipment. The total cost for labor and equipment for taps during the past 12 months was
$168,224.
Material cost for residential taps was approximately $70,385. This brings the total cost to the City for the
residential taps during the past 12 months to $238,609, while fees were collected for residential taps totaled
$i61,210. (48% increase required to balance)
The survey of other cities shows that Port Arthur's tap fees is the middle of the pack.
