RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE PORT ARTHUR ALUMNI PICNIC
2016 (REQUESTED BY MAYOR PRINCE)
WHEREAS, graduates from all Port Arthur schools have, for the past two years,
come together to support one another and Port Arthur businesses through the occupancy
of hotel rooms, grocery stores, restaurants, gasoline stations, and retail stores in our city.
They are planning their third unity event, The Port Arthur Alumni Picnic 2016, for Saturday,
July 16, 2016, on Pleasure Island; and,
WHEREAS, the annual event unites graduates from Lincoln, Jefferson, Austin,
Bishop Byrne, Memorial, Sacred Heart, Bob Hope School, and all other institutions of
education, allowing them to fellowship with family and friends; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Port Arthur to support the Port
Arthur Alumni Picnic 2016, and to encourage the organizers and participants to make this
event a long term occasion in our city; and
WHEREAS, the Port Arthur Alumni has made a request regarding parking as
delineated in Exhibit "A".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.

Section 2. That the City Council of Port Arthur supports the Port Arthur Alumni
Picnic 2016 on Pleasure Island to be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016.
Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution shall be spread upon the
Minutes of the City Council.
READ, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED, this 28th day of June, 2016 AD, at a Regular

EXHIBIT "A"
Approximately 930 parking spaces will be identified for visitor parking by Port
Arthur Alumni parking attendants.
- Parking may be permitted off of TB Ellison Parkway, on the grass area adjacent
to the Intercostal Canal.
o Approximately 350 vehicles may park along this 3 mile stretch
- Parking may be permitted on the far northwest edge of grass area between T.B.
Ellison Parkway and Lakefront Park Rd.
o Approximately 350 vehicles may park in the grass area
- Parking may be permitted on designated Park grass area and designated parking
area of Logan Park
o Approximately 200 vehicles may park in the grass area
- Additionally, approximately 30 paved parking spaces are available between the
three park entrances.
