INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
Human Resources Department
Date: July 18, 2016
To: Brian McDougal, City Manager
From: Trameka A. Williams, Interim Safety&Risk Management Coo\--rdikiWt
RE: An Ordinance Approving a Property Damage Settlement in the Amount of$14,150 for
Damages to City Ford Expedition Unit#1821
Nature of the request: On March 17, 2016, Fire Ford Expedition #1821 was damaged
when it was hit from behind at a high rate of speed on Hwy 82.
Staff Analysis, Considerations: The City has Automobile Physical Damage insurance
coverage through. Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool (TML) with a $2,500
deductible. TML has offered the City a settlement of $14,150, less the $2,500 deductible,
making the final settlement offer$11,650.
Recommendation: I recommend approval of Proposed Ordinance No. 6554 authorizing the
property damage settlement against TML for damage sustained to Vehicle #1821 (2010 Ford
Expedition). TML has offered to settle the claim for$14,150, less the $2,500 deductible, making
the final settlement offer$11,650. This is considered a fair and reasonable settlement.
Budget Considerations: The funds received will be deposited in the Fire Department
Replacement Account#001.-1121-522.43-00.
