Staff Analysis, Considerations: Recently, the Police Department made application through the Homeland Security Grants Division for the FY 2016 State Homeland Security Program — Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention funding. The City of Port Arthur's allocation was $52,101.50. The City was awarded said amount. The funds will be used to purchase needed equipment in the form of 7 Mobile Radios, 5 — Bank Radio Chargers, and 226 portable radio batteries to increase the efficiency of our Police/Fire Dispatch Communications System. Recommendations: The Police Department and Fire Department recommend that the City Council authorize the City Manager to accept the Fiscal Year 2016 State Homeland Security Program — Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention(SHSP-LETP) funding in the amount of$52, 101.50. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE FISCAL YEAR 2016 STATE HOMELAND SECURITY PROGRAM-LAW ENFORCEMENT TERRORISM PREVENTION (SHSP- LETP) FUNDING, WITH NO LOCAL MATCH REQUIRED . WHEREAS, the Southeast Regional Planning Commission advised the FY 2016 Homeland Security Grant Program allocation for the City of Port Arthur was $52, 101 . 50; and WHEREAS, the Police Department made application through the Homeland Security Grants Division (HSGD) system and was awarded the allocated amount; and WHEREAS, the Police and Fire Departments are in need of additional radio equipment (7 mobile radios, 5 radio chargers and 226 portable radio batteries) to increase the efficiency of our Police-Fire Dispatch Communication System; and WHEREAS, the SHSP-LETP Grant is 100% funded and totals $52, 101 . 50; and in the event of loss or misuse of grant funds, the City of Port Arthur will return all funds to HSGD. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1 . That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2 . That the City Manager is authorized to accept the Fiscal Year 2016 State Homeland Security Program-Law Enforcement Terrorism Prevention (SHSP-LETP) funding. Section 3 . That a copy of the Resolution shall be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council .
