NO. 19571 FOR THE REJECTING THE BIDS FOR THE MOWING OF PRIVATELY- OWNED AND CITY-OWNED DEVELOPED AND VACANT LOTS IN AREAS B, C, D, AND F IN THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR COMMENT RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council reject the bids for the mowing of privately-owned and City-owned developed and vacant lots in areas B,C, D, and F from the September 9, 2016 bid opening, and authorize staff to rebid. We recommend rejection of the bids because the price for developed lots would be excessive and cost prohibitive. BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT: None. STAFF/EMPLOYEE EFFECT: Code Compliance Division staff will be responsible for administering of the contracts. SUMMARY: Staff recommends that the City Council reject the bids for mowing of privately-owned and City-owned developed and vacant lots from the September 9, 2016 bid opening, and authorize staff to rebid areas B, C, D, and F. P16-056)FOR THE MOWING OF PRIVATELY OWNED AND CITY OWNED DEVELOPED AND VACANTS LOTS IN THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR WHEREAS,the City of Port Arthur opened bids(Bid No. P16-056)for the mowing of privately-owned and City-owned developed and vacant lots; and WHEREAS, the prices for mowing were solicited as one rate for vacant lots and developed lots, and the prices of the lowest responsible bidders for the mowing of developed lots are excessive for areas B,C,D,and F,and it would be in the best interest of the City to solicit new bids for this work; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT it is in the best interest of the City of Port Arthur to reject the bids for the mowing of privately-owned and city-owned developed and vacant lots in areas B, C, D, and F and solicit new bids; and THAT the City Council of the City of Port Arthur rejects the bids for the mowing of privately-owned and City-owned developed and vacant lots; and THAT the City Council hereby authorizes the solicitation of new bids for this work; and THAT a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
