A RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO A PAYMENT TO THE LAW FIRM OF LANGSTON SCOTT ADAMS (REQUESTED BY COUNCILMEMBER LEWIS) WHEREAS, Councilmember Lewis requested that a payment be remitted to the Law Firm of Langston Adams; and WHEREAS, the Law Firm of Langston Scott Adams represented the Plaintiffs in the matter of Reginald Trainer, Efrain Avendano, Paul Hulin and Herman Levingston vs. City of Port Arthur, in Cause No. E-194887, in the 172nd District Court of Jefferson County, Texas; and WHEREAS, on January 24, 2017, the Court entered judgment in this matter in the amount of $50,737.00 for attorneys' fees; and WHEREAS, the City filed a Motion for Reconsideration of the aforementioned judgment, which was heard by the Court on February 15, 2017. On February 22, 2017, the Court entered an Order Granting the City's Motion to reconsider the matter based on the City's objection to the payment of attorneys' fees. A hearing has been set on this matter on March 20, 2017. The amount of attorney's fees is a fact issue that the Court will determine at that time. WHEREAS, Councilmember Lewis is requesting that the City remit the above- referenced payment to the Law Firm of Langston Adams; and NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: s.pr19696 Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council deems it in the best interest of the City to make a payment to the Law Firm of Langston Adams as requested by Councilmember Lewis. Section 3. That a copy of this caption be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
