Nature of Request
I request that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 19754 authorizing the purchase
of one 2018 M2-112, 12 Yard Dump Truck from Houston Freightliner, of Houston, Texas,
through H-GAC, in the total amount of$107,000.00. This Dump Truck will replace Unit 1404,
a 2000 Chevy 8 yard Dump Truck with over 86,000 miles. The current unit has a lot of down-
time and has reached the end of its useful life. The Dump Truck will be used to haul sludge,
from our Water Purification process, to the landfill.
StaffAnalysis, Consideration:
Existing staff will operate and maintain this truck.
Recommendation:
I recommend that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 19754 authorizing the
purchase of a 2018 M2-112, 12yd Dump Truck from Houston Freightliner of Houston, Texas,
through H-GAC, in the total amount of$107,000.00.
Budget Considerations
Funding for this purchase was budgeted and is available in Utility Operations Account No. 410-
1252-532.92-00.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A
2018 M2-112 12 YARD DUMP TRUCK FOR THE UTILITY
OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT FROM HOUSTON
FREIGHTLINER OF HOUSTON, TEXAS, THROUGH H-
GAC, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $107,000.00. FUNDS
ARE AVAILABLE IN UTILITY OPERATIONS
EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT NO. 410-1252-532.92-00.
WHEREAS, the Utility Operations Department routinely uses dump trucks to haul away
sludge produced from the treatment of drinking water at the Water Purification facility for the
citizens, businesses, and industrial users for the City of Port Arthur; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur entered into contract no. 06-14 with the H-GAC
Cooperative Purchasing Program ("H-GAC"); and,
WHEREAS, City staff has solicited a H-GAC quote for a 2018 M2-112 12 Yard
Freightliner Dump Truck, as delineated in our Purchasing Policy; and,
WHEREAS, Houston Freightliner of Houston, Texas, through H-GAC, provided the
quote attached as Exhibit"A", which meets our specifications, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ARTHUR:
THAT, the City Council hereby authorizes the purchase of a 2018 M2-112 12 Yard
Freightliner Dump Truck from Houston Freightliner, of Houston, Texas, through H-GAC, in the
total amount of$107,000.00; and,
THAT, funding for this equipment is provided for in the Utility Operations O&M
budget; and,
THAT a copy of the caption of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City
Council.
