EXHIBIT "A"
EXHIBIT A
The City of Port Arthur and Port Arthur Transit will conduct a public hearing
regarding various proposed route changes to Port Arthur Transit bus routes.
"The Elimination of the Current Route 4" (Which duplicates the Route 3 bus).
Both routes serve Gulfway Drive and the West end of Port Arthur. (Ridership in this area
has been reduced with the destruction of the Apartment Complex on the West End. No
service will be lost with this change as all areas will continue to be served with 1 hour
frequency.
"Restructuring Service on Route 5 and Route 6"
This change will add service on the North side of Port Arthur, which is currently
our busiest routes, serving both Super Wal-Mart's, Super HEB, Central Mall,
Regional Medical Center, and the new Christus Southeast Texas Outpatient
Center. We will now serve Twin City Highway from Highway 365 to Rt.73 Service
Road. All areas will now be served hourly.
The Public hearing will offer an opportunity for interested persons and agencies to
comment on the proposal. The hearing will also afford the opportunity for interested
persons to be heard on the social, economic, and environmental aspects of the
proposal.
Implementation of the recommended projects will proceed pending the outcome of the
public hearing process, Port Arthur City Council approval.
