City of rrltrrr Texas www.PortArthurTx.gov INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM Date: May 23, 2017 To: The Honorable Mayor and City Council Through: Brian McDougal, City Manager From: Patrick Melvin, Chief of Police RE: Proposed Resolution#19769 Introduction: The intent of this Agenda Item is to seek the City Council's approval for the City Manager to transfer ownership of two (2) Zetron Console chassis and accessories to the Orange County Emergency Services District#2. Background: The Port Arthur Police and Fire Department retain ownership of two (2) Zetron Console chassis and accessories that have not been in use for over ten years. This equipment was previously in use as part of the police and fire dispatch center; however, were upgraded over ten years ago. Said equipment has been in storage since being taken out of service. The Orange County E.S.D. #2 currently utilizes these consoles and the addition of this equipment will further enhance their interoperable capabilities with the region, including Port Arthur, as mutual aid assets. Budget Impact: This request will have no budgetary impact as the equipment is no longer in use. Recommendation: It is recommended that City Council approve the City Manager to to transfer ownership of two (2) Zetron Console chassis and accessories to the Orange County Emergency Services District #2 as discussed and/or outline above. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TRANSFER OWNERSHIP OF TWO (2) ZETRON CONSOLE CHASSIS AND ACCESSORIES TO ORANGE COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES DISTRICT #2 (OCESD #2) . WHEREAS, the Police and Fire dispatch center currently retains ownership of two (2) Zetron Console chassis and accessories that have been out of service for over ten (10) years; and WHEREAS, the Orange County Emergency Services District #2 currently utilizes the Zetron Console system as part of their radio systems; and WHEREAS, the transfer of ownership of said equipment to the OCESD #2 would enhance their interoperable communication capabilities with the region as part of mutual aid assets . NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct . Section 2 . That the City Council authorizes the City Manager to transfer ownership of two (2) Zetron Console chassis and accessories to Orange County Emergency Services District #2 . Section 3 . That a copy of the Resolution shall be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council .
