RE: Grant Application Permission(PR#19826) Introduction: The intent of this Agenda Item is to seek the City Council's approval for the City Manager to apply for a Texas Historical Commission Grant for Rose Hill Manor in the amount of $13,800.00. Background: Rose Hill Manor is in need of much repair/restoration. The Texas Historical Commission has small grants available with very specific guidelines for such repair/restoration needed at Rose Hill Manor. The grant will be for $13,800.00 of work to be done on a chimney and other small work to help stop moisture intrusion into the building. This is a reimbursable grant. Budget Impact: The payment is fully reimbursable and the account is 140-1405-551.59-00 M97908 (Hotel Occupancy Tax fund) Recommendation: It is recommended that City Council approve the City Manager to apply for a Texas Historical Commission Grant for Rose Hill Manor, as discussed and/or outline above. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO APPLY FOR A TEXAS HISTORICAL COMMISSION GRANT FOR ROSE HILL MANOR IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,800.00, WITH FUNDS REIMBURSABLE TO ACCOUNT 140-1405-551.59-00 M97908 (HOTEL OCCUPANCY TAX FUND) . WHEREAS, Rose Hill Manor is in need of repairs/restoration; and WHEREAS, the Texas Historical Commission has small grants available for such repairs/restoration; and WHEREAS, Rose Hill Manor is in the Civic Center Department; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Port Arthur that the Civic Center Department follow the guidelines set forth in the application for repairs/restoration at Rose Hill Manor; and WHEREAS, the City Council agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Texas Historical Commission funds, City Council assures that the funds will be returned to the Texas Historical Commission in full. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. THAT, the City Manager is hereby authorized to apply for a Texas Historical Commission Grant for Rose Hill Manor in the amount of$13,800.00, with funds reimbursable to Account No. 140-1405-551.59-00 M979908 (Hotel Occupancy Tax Fund). THAT a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council. P.R.
