Background: Unit 1795 is a 2010 Ford F-350 with over 208,000 miles on it. It is the truck used by our Senior Plant Mechanic,who is responsible for maintenance at all of the treatment plants and lift stations in the City of Port Arthur. The engine recently went out in this truck unexpectedly and needs to be replaced. A quote for the engine replacement came in around $20,000. With the quote for a new replacement truck being less than $35,000, staff believes repairs are cost prohibitive vs. new purchase. This purchase takes the place of the budgeted replacement of Unit#1794 Budget Impact: The new truck has a HGAC Buy Cooperative Purchasing Quote of$34,045.75 from Silsbee Ford, of Silsbee, Texas, and will be paid out of Equipment, account#410-1255-532.92-00. Recommendation: It is recommended that City Council approve the City Manager to purchase a Ford F-350 Truck to replace Unit#1795. "Remember,we are here to serve the Citizens of Port Arthur" P. R. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A 2017 FORD F-350 TRUCK WITH A SERVICE BODY FOR THE UTILITY OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT FROM SILSBEE FORD,OF SILSBEE,TEXAS,THROUGH HGAC BUY, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $34,045.75. FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE IN EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT NO. 410- 1255-532.92-00. WHEREAS, the Utility Operations Department routinely uses various trucks in the construction, operation, and maintenance activities of the Water Distribution system throughout the City; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 11-196, the City of Port Arthur entered into an interlocal agreement for cooperative purchasing with the HGAC Buy Cooperative Purchasing Program ("HGAC Buy"); and, WHEREAS,City staff has solicited a HGAC Buy quote for a 2017 Ford F-350 Crew Cab Pickup Truck with a service body, as delineated in our Purchasing Policy; and, WHEREAS, Silsbee Ford, of Silsbee, Texas, through HGAC Buy, provided the quote attached as Exhibit"A", which meets our specifications,NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT,the City Council hereby authorizes the purchase of a 2017 F-350 Crew Cab Pickup Truck with a service body from Silsbee Ford, of Silsbee, Texas, through HGAC Buy, in the total amount of$34,045.75; and, THAT a copy of the caption of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City Council.
