RE: P.R. No. 19990—A resolution calling for a public hearing to consider granting
a specific use permit at 8660 South 1St Avenue.
Introduction:
The intent of this Agenda Item is to request a public hearing to consider a specific use permit
for 2.7650 acres of land consisting of Tract 7, Abstract No. 155 WM King Survey [A.K.A.
8660 South 1st Avenue] in Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas.
The purpose of this request is for the installation and maintenance of three (3) 10,000-gallon
above ground diesel fuel storage tanks on site in an Industrial (I) zoned district.
Background:
The Planning& Zoning Commission reviewed this case on November 20, 2017.
Budget Impact:
N/A
Recommendation:
It is recommended that City Council approve P.R. No. 19990, calling for a public hearing to
consider granting a specific use permit for the installation and maintenance of three (3) 10,000-
gallon above ground diesel storage tanks. The public hearing shall be held on Tuesday,
December 19, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.

CONSIDER GRANTING A SPECIFIC USE PERMIT FOR

ABSTRACT NO. 155 WM KING SURVEY [A.K.A. 8660
SOUTH 1ST AVENUE], PORT ARTHUR, JEFFERSON
COUNTY, TEXAS FOR COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT

WHEREAS, the applicants — MPW Industrial Water Services, are requesting that the City of
Port Arthur consider granting a Specific Use Permit for approximately 2.7650 acres of land consisting
of Tract 7, Abstract No. 155 WM King Survey [A.K.A. 8660 South 1st Avenue] in Port Arthur,
Jefferson County, Texas for the installation and maintenance of three (3) 10,000-gallon above ground
diesel fuel storage tanks on site in an Industrial (I) zoned district, as delineated in Exhibit"A"; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 211 of the Texas Local Government Code, a public
hearing must precede any zoning change; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
THAT the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
THAT the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed this case on November 20, 2017.
THAT a public hearing to consider whether to grant this applicant a specific use permit
for approximately 2.7650 acres of land consisting of Tract 7, Abstract No. 155 WM King
Survey [A.K.A. 8660 South 1St Avenue] in Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas for the
installation and maintenance of three (3) 10,000-gallon above ground diesel fuel storage tanks
on site in an Industrial(I)zoned district,as delineated in Exhibit"A"shall be held on December
19, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers, Fifth Floor, City Hall, 444 Fourth Street.

THAT notice of the public hearing shall be published at least fifteen days prior in the
official newspaper of the City before going to the City Council.
THAT a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City
Council.

Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, by the following vote:
