Williams, Safety& Risk Management Coordinate -i RE: A Resolution Approving a Settlement in the Amount of $379,166.13 Against Wright National Flood Insurance Company for Flood related Damages to the Water Service Warehouse(111 E. Hwy 73) Nature of the request: On August 30, 2017, the Water Service Warehouse (111 E. Hwy 73.), sustained damages during the flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Staff Analysis, Considerations: The City has Flood insurance coverage through Wright National Flood Insurance Company. Wright National Flood Insurance Company has offered the City a settlement of $379,166.13. This amount is sufficient to cover all estimated property damages for the Water Service Warehouse (111 E. Hwy 73). If additional damages are discovered, Wright National Flood Insurance Company may issue a supplemental payment. Recommendation: I recommend approval of Proposed Resolution No. 20015 authorizing the property damage settlement against Wright National Flood Insurance Company for damage sustained to the Water Service Warehouse (111 E. Hwy 73). Wright National Flood Insurance Company has offered to settle the claim for $379,166.13. This is considered a fair and reasonable settlement. Budget Considerations: The funds received will be deposited in the Insurance Proceeds Account#147-0000-369.85-00, Project#082617. "Remember we are here to serve the Citizens of Port Arthur" P.R. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE SETTLEMENT OF A CLAIM IN THE AMOUNT OF $379,166.13 MADE AGAINST WRIGHT NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE COMPANY AS A RESULT OF THE FLOOD DAMAGE TO THE WATER SERVICE WAREHOUSE (111 E. HWY 73) WHEREAS, on August 29, 2017, Hurricane Harvey struck the City of Port Arthur, resulting in flood damage to the Water Service Warehouse; and, WHEREAS, as a result of the damage, a claim was filed with Wright National Flood Insurance Company; and, WHEREAS, Wight National Flood Insurance Company has offered to settle the claim for $379,166.13, which has been determined to be a fair and reasonable settlement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS: Section 1. That, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That, the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute settlement in the amount of $379,166.13 for the claim against Wright National Flood Insurance Company. This amount is based on an estimated cost for flood-related repairs; therefore, if additional flood- related costs are incurred, Wright National Flood Insurance Company may issue a supplemental payment.
