AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 17-49 AS IT PERTAINS
TO THE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR AND THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION
OF FIRE FIGHTERS LOCAL 397
WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur has negotiated a Collective Bargaining
Agreement with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 397 pursuant to
Chapter 174 of the Texas Local Government Code Annotated, the Fire and Police
Employees Relation Act; and
WHEREAS, on September 26, 2017, the City Council made a Motion to extend the
contract Articles of Agreement between the City of Port Arthur and Local 397 International
Association of Fire Fighters and agreed to adopt this contract for a one year period
through September 30, 2018 that included a pay increase of three percent (3%) effective
October 1, 2017; and
WHEREAS, on December 5, 2017, the City Council adopted Ordinance 17-49
approving the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the International Association of Fire
Fighters Local 397; and
WHEREAS, the parties have agreed to amend certain provisions of Article 3
(Duration), Article 10 (Holidays); and Article 30 (Wages) of the agreement attached
hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
Section 2. That the Mayor and City Manager are hereby authorized to execute
said Collective Bargaining Agreement on behalf of the City in substantially the same form
as attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 3. That the effective date of the contract shall be October 1, 2017
through September 30, 2019.
Section 4. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the
Minutes of the City Council.
READ, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED on this day of , A.D., 2018, at a
Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, by the following
