Richard, Fire Chief RE: PR 20120, HVAC Station 8 and Station 5 Harvey Repair Introduction: The intent of this Agenda Item is to seek the City Council's approval of Proposed Resolution 20120 authorizing the repair and replacement of the HVAC Systems at Fire Station Number 5 and Fire Station Number 8 by CAT 5 Resources located in Nederland, Texas in the amount of $39,257.18. Background: Fire Stations 8 and 5 suffered damage from the flooding associated with Hurricane Harvey. The HVAC systems including some of the ductwork will need to be replaced. The cost for Fire Station 5 is $15,229.68 and Fire Station 8 is $24,027.50. The City has received funds to settle the claim for building damage from NFIP in the amount of$230,669.87 for Fire Station Number 5 and$246,362.69 for Fire Station Number 8, an additional $40,000 per fire station was received for contents. The Purchasing and Fire Department contacted several vendors with two responsive quotes. CAT 5 was the lowest and best responsive quote. Budget Impact: Funds available in Hurricane Harvey Account No. 147-2300-901.32-00, Project 082617. Recommendation: The Fire Department recommends approval of this resolution. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF THE HVAC SYSTEMS AT FIRE STATION NUMBER 5 AND FIRE STATION NUMBER 8 FROM CAT 5 RESOURCES OF NEDERLAND, TEXAS, IN THE AMOUNT OF $39, 257 . 18; FUNDING AVAILABLE IN HURRICANE HARVEY ACCOUNT NO. 147-2300-901. 32-00, PROJECT 082617 WHEREAS, the Fire Department' s Fire Stations Number 8 and 5 received extensive damage due to flooding associated with Hurricane Harvey; and WHEREAS, NFIP has settled the claim for Fire Station Number 8 ' s building damage for $246 , 362 . 69 plus $40 , 000 for contents; and WHEREAS, National Flood Insurance Protection (NFIP) has settled the claim for Fire Station Number 5 ' s building damage for $230, 669 . 87 plus $40 , 000 for contents; and WHEREAS, the Fire Department and Purchasing Department solicited quotes from numerous vendors and received two responsive quotes; and WHEREAS, CAT 5 Resources of Nederland, Texas was the lowest responsive quote (see Quote Tabulation attached hereto as Exhibit "A" ) ; and WHEREAS, a copy of the quote is attached as Exhibit "B" ; and WHEREAS, funds are available for this purchase in Hurricane Harvey Account Number 147-2300-901 . 32-00, Project 082617 .
