Tappen,Assistant City Manager/Administration Interim Parks&Recreation Director RE: 2018 Heavy Equipment Purchases—Parks & Recreation Introduction: The intent of this Agenda Item is to request the City Council to authorize the purchase of two (2)"batwing"tractors for the Parks&Recreation Department. Background: Due to the age and use of its current "batwing" tractors (model years 2000), the Parks and Recreation Department budgeted two (2) replacement items in the FY 2018 Budget. The Purchasing Department has already completed a formal bid process for these items. (Please see attached bid tabulations.) Budgetary Impact: The Parks and Recreation Department's FY 2018 expenditure for these items were anticipated to be an estimated total of$173,000. However, the proposed budgetary impact, based on the bids, will be $115,500, plus the costs related to license plates and registration with the State (Account#625-1801-531.93-07). OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, FOR THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT WITH A PROJECTED BUDGETARY AMOUNT OF $115,500.00; FUNDING AVAILABLE IN PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT NO. 625-1801-531.93-07 WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for mowing various city properties, parks and right-of-ways and is need of equipment to help with mowing areas of the city in a short amount of time which will help to increase productivity; and, WHEREAS, on December 6, 2017, the Purchasing Division solicited quotes for various tractors for the Parks and Recreation Department, as delineated in our Purchasing Policy, and six (6) quotes were received; and, WHEREAS, Beaumont Tractor Co. of Beaumont, Texas is the lowest and most responsive quote for a Batwing Tractor (See Bid Tabulation and quote attached as Exhibit "A"); now,therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT AR'T'HUR: Section 1.
