Freeman, Director of Housing &Neighborhood Revitalization RE: P.R. 20220 Nature of the request: The Housing Division recommend the City Council adopt Proposed Resolution Number 20220 to extend the time of previous Resolution Number 18-013, authorizing the execution of a Homebuyer Written Agreement for the purchase of 1100 6th Street, Port Arthur, Texas. Previous Resolution Number 18-013 expired on April 16, 2018 and will be extended to June 29, 2018. Staff Analysis/Considerations: The City Council by authorization of Resolution Number 13-346 has obligated the City to provide homebuyers assistance to qualified persons/families of the City. Community Development Block Grant(CDBG) Program funds and HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) Program funds are allocated to the City annually to provide Homebuyers assistance activities in accordance with 24 Code of Federal Regulations Part 570 and Part 92. A homebuyer has been identified and certified and is eligible to receive up to $30,000 to assist with the purchase of a new construction home located at 1100 6th Street in Port Arthur, Texas. The funds will be used to assist with principal buy down and closing fees associated with the purchase of a home. Recommendation: The Housing Division recommend the City Council adopt Proposed Resolution Number 20220 to extend the time of closing date previously approved per Resolution Number 18-013. The previous closing date expired on April 16, 2018 and will be extended to June 29, 2018. Budget Consideration Funding will be provided by the Federal HOME Program, account number 108-2141-626.54-01, project number HE1504. P. R. 20220 4/17/2018--BAF/Housing RESOLUTION NUMBER A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 18-013 AS IT PERTAINS TO UPDATING THE HOMEBUYER'S WRITTEN AGREEMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF 1100 6TH STREET, PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS THROUGH THE CITY'S HOMEBUYER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF UP TO $30,000.00 WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 18-013, the City Council authorized the execution of a Homebuyer's Written Agreement for the purchase of 1100 6th Street, Port Arthur, Texas and said authorization of the closing date has expired on April 16, 2018; and WHEREAS, it has been requested that the City of Port Arthur amend Resolution No. 18-013 to extend time for execution of the closing documents to June 29, 2018. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. THAT the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. THAT the City Council hereby authorizes amending Resolution No. 18-013 to extend the closing documents to June 29, 2018. Section 3. THAT a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City Council.
