Transfer pumps pull water from the LNVA canal and store it in the City's reservoir. Transfer Pump #101 is in need of repair. Water Purification staff solicited bids from local machine shops to repair Transfer Pump #101; the lowest bid and total budgetary impact is $26,505.25. It is a budgeted item and will come from account #410-1252- 539.42-00, Equipment Maintenance. Background: Transfer pumps pull water from the LNVA canal and store it in the City's reservoir. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING REPAIRS TO RAW WATER TRANSFER PUMP #101 AT THE WATER PURIFICATION PLANT BY CAYSON PUMP SERVICES, LLC OF DEER PARK, TEXAS, WITH A PROJECTED BUDGETARY IMPACT OF $26,505.25; FUNDING IS AVAILABLE IN UTILITIES ACCOUNT NO. #410-1252- 532.42-00, EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE. WHEREAS, transfer pumps are critical to the supply of raw water into our reservoir from the LNVA canal, and to the drinking water supply for City of Port Arthur; and, WHEREAS, three quotes were solicited and the lowest, responsible quote of$26,505.25 (as shown in Exhibit A)was submitted by Cayson Pump Services, LLC; and, WHEREAS, the transfer pump is a critical component of the water purification process and needs to be repaired as quickly as possible to ensure public health and safety; and, WHEREAS, it is further authorized pursuant to Section 252.022(a)(2), of the Texas Local Government Code, a procurement necessary to preserve or protect the public health and safety of the municipality's residents. This procurement is also authorized pursuant to Section 252.022(a)(3), of the Texas Local Government Code, because of the unforeseen damage to public machinery, equipment, or other property; and, WHEREAS, these repairs are necessary to the proper functioning of the transfer pump, without these repairs, the equipment would not function properly, potentially causing more damage to the unit. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT, in order to protect the health and safety of our citizens, the City Council hereby authorizes the repairs to Transfer Pump #101 at the Water Purification Plant, as delineated in Exhibit "A" attached hereto, by Cayson Pump Services, LLC, in the amount of$26,505.25; and, P. Manufacture new per sample 2. Straighten shaft 3. Inspect and record sizes. 4. Clean and prep for assembly Line Shaft(4): The shafts have excessive wear and erosion and need replacing. 1. Manufacture new shafts per sample 2. Straighten new shafts T.I.R .002" 3. Inspect and record sizes 4. Clean and prep for assembly Top Shaft: This shaft has wear at bearing fits. Replace. 1.
