R. 20340 - Purchase of a Weiler P385B Commercial Asphalt Paver Introduction: Approval of Proposed Resolution No. 20340 approving the purchase of a Weiler P385B Commercial Asphalt Paver from Mustang CAT of Beaumont,Texas through HGAC contract pricing for an amount of$183,781.00. Background: The asphalt paver is used for the installation of new asphalt on city roads. At this time we do not have one and the work is being contracted out. The purchase of this paver would allow the city to complete work internally. The Weiler P385B is designed to provide highway-class productivity in a small,maneuverable package, ideal for our local streets. Funding for the machine will be taken from Capital Reserve Account. Budget Impact: Funds are provided in account numbers 625-1801-531.92-03,Capital Reserve Fund, Public Works Streets. Recommendation: It is recommended that City Council authorize the City Manager to approve P. R. 20340, as discussed and/or outlined above. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A P385B COMMERCIAL ASPHALT PAVER FROM MUSTANG CAT OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, THROUGH HGAC CONTRACT PRICING, FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS STREETS DIVISION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $183,781.00; FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE CAPITAL RESERVE FUNDING PUBLIC WORKS STREETS 625-1801-531.92-03. WHEREAS, the Public Works Department Streets Division is recommending that the city Council authorize the purchase of a Weiler P385B Commercial Asphalt Paver from Beaumont, Texas through HGAC contract pricing, for the Streets Division; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 271, Subchapter D, of the Local Government Code, a city may participate in cooperative purchasing programs established by the State Facilities Commission for the purchase of goods at prices established through purchase contracts of the Commission for the purchase contracts of the Commission; and, WHEREAS, per Resolution No. 11-196, the City of Port Arthur entered into an interlocal agreement for cooperative purchasing with the HGAC Cooperative Purchasing Program; and, WHEREAS, the Weiler P385B Commercial Asphalt Paver would be utilized in the Public Works Streets Division for asphalt paving by the Streets Division personnel throughout the City; and, WHEREAS, a copy of the contract pricing worksheet for this equipment is attached as Exhibit"A"; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT,the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and, P.R.20340 07/10/18 aw THAT, funding is available in the Capital Reserve Fund Public Works Streets account 625-1801-531.92-03.
