Introduction: The intent of this Agenda Item is to seek the City Council's approval for the City Manager to approve the purchase of Three (3) Traffic Control Boxes from TrafficWare, Inc. It is recommended that City Council approve PR 20368. Background: The City of Port Arthur Public Works Department's Traffic Maintenance Division requests the replacement of three traffic controller boxes due to age and/or deterioration of the current traffic control devices. The locations are as follows: Rev. Dr. Ransom Howard Street(W. 7th)at Highway 82 (MLK); Saba Lane at Twin City Highway; and, Savannah Avenue at Gulfway Drive, respectively. Budget Impact: Funds are available in the following Public Works Signal Systems account: 001-120 -531.45-00. The budget impact will be $32,700.00. Recommendation: It is recommended that the City of Port Arthur City Council authorizes approval for the City Manager to purchase the traffic control devices as discussed and/or outline above. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE THREE (3) TRAFFIC CONTROLLER BOXES FROM TRAFFICWARE, INC. FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF CONTROL BOXES LOCATED ON REV. DR. RANSOM HOWARD (W. 7TH) STREET AT HIGHWAY 82 (MLK); SABA LANE AT TWIN CITY HIGHWAY; AND, SAVANNAH AVENUE AT GULFWAY DRIVE, RESPECTIVELY. FUNDING IS AVAILABLE IN PUBLIC WORKS SIGNAL SYSTEMS ACCOUNT: 001- 1205-531.45-00. THE BUDGET IMPACT IS $32,700.00 WHEREAS, due to aging and deteriorating traffic control devices; and, WHEREAS, there are three (3) traffic control devices that need to be replaced on Rev. Dr. Ransom Howard (W. 7th) Street at Highway 82 (MLK); Saba Lane at Twin City Highway; and, Savannah Avenue at Gulfway Drive, respectively; and, WHEREAS, the traffic control devices can be purchased through BuyBoard; and, WHEREAS, the above locations have been evaluated by the Public Works Traffic Maintenance Division and deemed to be of a higher safety priority; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and, THAT, three (3) traffic control devices are needed at the above locations; and, THAT, the City Manager of the City of Port Arthur is hereby authorized and directed to purchase, on behalf of the City, the three (3) traffic control devices from TrafficWare, Inc., for the amount of $32,700.00, for the traffic control devices located on Rev.
