Background: The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for mowing various city properties, parks and right-of-ways. It is also responsible for the maintenance of fields that are utilized for various softball, football and baseball leagues. The tractor is needed to help move and spread dirt on the infields as well as mowing the fields and tilling around the bases. The department budgeted for a tractor with a front end loader in the FY 2018 Budget. Budgetary Impact: Funding in the amount of$32,928.88 is available for this purchase. FY 2018. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A TRACTOR WITH A FRONT END LOADER FROM BEAUMONT TRACTOR CO. OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, FOR THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT THROUGH TEXAS BUYBOARD COOPERATIVE PURCHASING IN THE AMOUNT OF $32,928.88; FUNDING AVAILABLE IN PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT NO. 625-1801-531.93-07 WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for mowing various city properties, parks and right-of-ways and is need of equipment to help with the maintenance of fields; and, WHEREAS, Chapter 271 of the Texas Government Code allows a city, by resolution of its governing body, to participate in cooperative purchasing programs, such as Texas Buyboard, as an alternative to formal bid process; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 02-341, the City of Port Arthur entered into an interlocal agreement for cooperative purchasing with Texas Buyboard; and, WHEREAS, Beaumont Tractor Co. of Beaumont, Texas is part of the Buyboard cooperative purchasing program under contract#515-16 and#529-17 and submitted a quote for a tractor and front end loader in the amount of$32,928.88 attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council deems it is in the best interest of the City to authorize the purchase of a tractor with a front end loader from Beaumont Tractor Co. of Beaumont, Texas, through Buyboard Contract Numbers 515-16 and 529-17, in the amount of $32,928.88, funding being made available in account 625-1801-531.93-07. Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council. P.
