No. 20384 authorizing the reconditioning of Equipment No. 1636, a Caterpillar 826H Landfill Compactor, from Mustang Cat of Beaumont, Texas in the amount of$450,151.48. Background: The proposal was advertised on May 9, 2018 and May 16, 2018 in the Port Arthur News and one (1) proposal was received and opened on May 30, 2018 from Mustang Cat of Beaumont, Texas. Equipment #1636, which is a Caterpillar 826H Compactor, caught on fire and is inoperable. City staff decided reconditioning Equipment No. 1636 was more practical than buying a new compactor. The City staff negotiated a reduction of $46,131.02 in price to $450,151.48 was negotiated. The cost includes a 3 year 5000 hour powertrain warranty. Budget Impact: Funding will be charged to Public Works Landfill Equipment Account No. 403-1274.92-00. A budget adjustment will be made to this account. Recommendation: Public Works is requesting City Council approve P.R. No. 20384 authorizing the reconditioning of Equipment No. 1636, a Caterpillar 826H Landfill Compactor, from Mustang Cat of Beaumont, Texas in the amount of$450,151.48. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE RECONDITIONING OF A CATERPILLAR 826H COMPACTOR (EQUIPMENT NO. 1636) FOR THE LANDFILL WITH MUSTANG CAT OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS IN THE AMOUNT OF $450,151.48; FUNDING FROM PUBLIC WORKS LANDFILL EQUIPMENT ACCOUNT NO. 403- 1274.92-00 WHEREAS, Equipment No. 1636, a Caterpillar 826H Compactor, caught on fire and inoperable; and, WHEREAS, the City staff decided to receive proposals to recondition Equipment No. 1636; and WHEREAS, a proposal was received from Mustang Cat of Beaumont, Texas, in the amount of $496,282.50; and, WHEREAS, the City staff negotiated a reduction of$46,131.02 in price to $450,151.48 (Exhibit"A"). NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR,TEXAS: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to accept the proposal for the reconditioning of Equipment No. 1636, a Caterpillar 826H Landfill Compactor, from Mustang Cat of Beaumont, Texas, in the amount $450,151.48, as delineated in Exhibit "A" attached hereto. A budget adjustment will be made to Account No. 403-1274.92-00. Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
