RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING AND/OR REAPPOINTING A
MEMBER OR MEMBERS TO THE PLEASURE ISLAND ADVISORY
COMMITTEE (REQUESTED BY COUNCILMEMBER JONES)
WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur Pleasure Island Commission was created by
Ordinance No. 70-56; and
WHEREAS, on May 11, 2013 the citizens of Port Arthur voted to bring the
Pleasure Island Commission under the direction of the City Manager and changed the
name of the board to the Pleasure Island Advisory Committee; and
WHEREAS, the term of office is four years, and
WHEREAS, the following persons are the current directors for the Pleasure
Island Advisory Committee:

Position 1 Reginald Trainer June 6, 2021
Position 2 Dan Kats I April 14, 2019
(unexpired term)
Position 3 Dr. Michelle Lockwood February 4, 2018
Snodgrass (unexpired term)
Position 4 John Beard, Jr. July 26, 2020
Position 5 Jimmy Whitley May 30, 2021
Position 6 Ricky Reese May 30, 2021
Position 7 Debra Valcin January 30, 2022
Position 8 Johnnie Cooper September 29, 2018
Mayor Michelle Dorsey August 20, 2017

WHEREAS, Board members can be removed by vote of City Council; and
WHEREAS, Dan Kats, the appointment of Director for Position 2, has resigned
and Councilmember Jones wishes to appoint Susie Chirafis as Director for Position 2 for
the Mr. Kats unexpired term.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
Section 2. That this resolution will document said appointment for the purpose
of the public record, and verifies that the following persons are the Directors for the
Pleasure Island Advisory Committee:
