R. 20449 Introduction: Approval of Proposed Resolution No. 20449 authorizing the purchase of a portable trailer mounted 6"diesel pump from Xylem of Houston, Texas, through H-GAC with a projected budgetary impact of$57,039. Background: The Public Works Department Drainage Division is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of the City's stormwater drainage system. A quote was received from Xylem of Houston,Texas through H-GAC cooperative buying program to purchase a 6"trailer mounted diesel pump. The pump will be used during rain events in various locations throughout the city to prevent flooding and at pump stations in the event backup pumping is needed. Budget Impact: City funds are provided in account numbers 625-1801-531.92-04, Capital Reserve Fund, Public Works Drainage. Recommendation: It is recommended that City Council authorize the City Manager to approve P. R. 20449, as discussed and/or outlined above. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A 6" TRAILER MOUNTED DIESEL PUMP FROM XYLEM OF HOUSTON, TEXAS, UNDER H-GAC CONTRACT NO. CM02-17, FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DRAINAGE DIVISION, WITH A PROJECTED BUDGETARY IMPACT OF $57,039; FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE CAPITAL RESERVE FUNDING PUBLIC WORKS DRAINAGE 625-1801-531.92-04. WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is recommending that the City Council authorize the purchase of a 6" trailer mounted diesel pump from Xylem of Houston, Texas through H-GAC cooperative pricing, for the Drainage Division; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 271, Subchapter D, of the Local Government Code, a city may participate in cooperative purchasing programs established by the State Facilities Commission for the purchase of goods at prices established through purchase contracts of the Commission for the purchase contracts of the Commission; and, WHEREAS, per Resolution No. 11-196, the City of Port Arthur entered into an interlocal agreement for cooperative purchasing with the H-GAC Cooperative Purchasing Program; and, WHEREAS, the 6" diesel pump would be utilized in the Public Works Drainage Division during rain events to prevent flooding in various locations throughout the City and to assist at pump stations when pumps are deemed inoperable and need repair; and, WHEREAS, a copy of the contract pricing worksheet for this equipment is attached as Exhibit "A"; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT,the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and, P.R.20449 09/12/18 aw THAT, the City Council authorizes the purchase of a 6" trailer mounted diesel pump from Xylem of Houston, Texas, through H-GAC cooperative pricing, in the amount of$57,039; and, THAT, funding is available in the Capital Reserve Fund Public Works Drainage account 625-1801-531.92-04.
