Robinson, Interim City Manager From: Ronald Burton,Assistant City Manager- Operations/Director of Development Services RE: P.R.No. 20528—Appointing/Reappointing a member to the Planning and Zoning Commission Introduction: Attached is P.R.No. 20528 appointing or reappointing a member to the Planning and Zoning Commission,pursuant to Article XI, Section I, of the Charter of the City of Port Arthur, for a five (5) year term to expire on October 30, 2023. Background: In accordance with Article XI, Section I, the City Planning and Zoning Commission shall be composed of five (5) members and appointed for a term of one, two, three, four and five years, respectively, and annually thereafter one member shall be appointed for the term of five (5) years. Members of the City Planning and Zoning Commission shall be appointed by a majority vote of the members of the City Council and may be removed for cause at any time. Currently, this position is being held by Richard L. Cox. Mr. Cox was first appointed to the Planning & Zoning Commission November 11, 2003 by Resolution No. 03-332. He has diligently served on the Commission for fifteen (15)years without disruption. Budget Impact: None Recommendation: It is recommended that City Council approve P.R.No. 20528, appointing or reappointing a member to the Planning and Zoning Commission for a term of five (5) years, expiring on October 30, 2023. A RESOLUTION APPOINTING OR REAPPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION WHEREAS,the term of Planning and Zoning Commissioner Richard L. Cox will expire on October 30, 2018, as delineated in Exhibit"A"; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 1 of Article XI of the Charter of the City of Port Arthur, it is necessary to fill the expired term; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1: That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2: That is appointed and/or reappointed to serve as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission for a five (5) year term, expiring October 30,2023, as delineated in Exhibit"B". Section 3: That the appointee shall immediately contact the City Secretary's Office and be sworn in. Section 4: That this Resolution shall be effective immediately. Section 5: That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
