RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A CHARTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WITH EACH COUNCILMEMBER APPOINTING ONE MEMBER TO SAID
COMMITTEE TO MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE CITY COUNCIL
ON POSSIBLE CHARTER AMENDMENTS (REQUESTED BY
COUNCILMEMBER MOSES)
WHEREAS, Article 11 of the Texas Constitution allows a home-rule municipality to
make changes to its Charter no more than every two years; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Port Arthur to routinely review,
study, and make possible recommendations to the Charter through the establishment of a
Charter Advisory Committee.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That an Advisory Committee is hereby established to make
recommendations to the City Council on possible charter amendments.
Section 2. That each Councilmember shall make one appointment to this Advisory
Committee, with the names being submitted to the City Secretary by September 24, 2019.
Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution shall be spread upon the
Minutes of the City Council.
