Arthur Youth Advisory Council
Recommendation
I recommend the City coundl adopt Proposed Resolution no. 14513, which appoint new members to
the Port Arthur youth Advisory Council.

The City of Port Arthur Youth Advisory council held its first meeting February 2002.
There have been two YAC group terms held since that beginning.
The YAC is rnmposed of 27 members, with each council member appointing three (3)
members for two (2) year terms. The members shell be from middle school, high xhool and
between the ages of 13 to 21. The members shall also be Port Arthur residents.
This resolution allows munal members (with unfilled positions available) to appoint new
YAC members at the time the resolution is on the floor for discussion.
The appointees for each muncil member are indicated on exhibit "A" of the resolution.
Budgetary/Fiscal Effect:
The Council sets aside a budget of $5,000 annually for the YAC muncil activities.
Summary
I recommend that the City Council.adopt Proposed Resolution No. 14513 and accept the Port Arthur
residents nominated for the new YAC positions. Their terms will end 1Z/31/09.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE
PORT ARTHUR YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, the City Council, on the 15`h day of October, 2002, created a youth
commission called the Port•Arthur Youth Advisory Council; and
WHEREAS, there is a need to appoint. members to this Council.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That. the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
Section 2. That the City Council herein approves the appointments to the Port
Arthur Youth Advisory Council of the persons as delineated in the attached Exhibit "A° for
terms ending on December 31, 2009. ,
Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the
