Williams, Director of Human Resources RE: A Resolution Approving a Property Damage Settlement in the Amount of$9,000.00 Against Casco Industries, Inc. For Damages to Mobile Equipment at Fire Station #6 Nature of the request: On August 30, 2017, Fire Station #6 (4448 9th Avenue) sustained damages to mobile equipment (heated turnout gear dryer) as a direct result of Hurricane Harvey. Staff Analysis, Considerations: The City filed a claim with Casco Industries, Inc. Casco Industries, Inc. has offered a settlement in the amount of$9,000.00 for the damages to the gear. (Exhibit"A" attached). Recommendation: I recommend approval of Proposed Resolution No. 21257 authorizing the settlement of $9,000.00 made against Casco Industries, Inc. for the damages to the mobile equipment (heated turnout gear dryer) at Fire Station#6 as a result of Hurricane Harvey. Budget Considerations: The funds received will be deposited in the Miscellaneous Income/Insurance Proceeds account, #147-0000-369.85-00, Project#082617.. "Remember we are here to serve the Citizens of Port Arthur" P.R. No. 21257 01/23/20 TAW RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE SETTLEMENT OF A CLAIM IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,000.00 MADE AGAINST CASCO INDUSTRIES, INC. AS A RESULT OF THE FLOOD DAMAGES TO MOBILE EQUIPMENT AT FIRE STATION #6 DUE TO HURRICANE HARVEY (AUGUST 30, 2017) WHEREAS, on August 30, 2017, Hurricane Harvey struck the City of Port Arthur, resulting in flood damage to the mobile equipment as listed in Attachments "A" (attached); and, WHEREAS, as a result of the damage, a claim was filed with Casco Industries, Inc.; and, WHEREAS, Casco Industries, Inc. has offered to settle the claim for the heated air turnout gear dryer in the amount of$9,000.00 which has been determined to be a fair and reasonable settlement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS: Section 1. That, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That, the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute settlement in the amount of $9,000.00 for the heated turnout gear dryer claim against Casco Industries, Inc. Section 3. That, a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City Council.
