AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2007 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2008 TO FUND ADDITIONAL LEGAL AND CONSULTING SERVICES WHEREAS, in accordance with Article XII, Section 9, of the City Charter, the City Council may make emergency appropriations from time to time; and WHEREAS, the City Council may make budget amendments for emergencies under Section 102.009 and for Municipal purposes under Section 102.010 Local Government Code. WHEREAS, on September 25, 2007, the City Council approved and adopted Ordinance 07-68 which appropriated the 2007-2008 budget; and WHEREAS, on October 23, 2007, the City Council adopted Ordinance 07-85, amending Ordinance 07-68; and WHEREAS, on December 18, 2007, the City Council adopted Ordinance 07-97, amending Ordinance 07-68; and. WHEREAS, these amendments are necessary for municipal purposes to meet unusual and unforeseen conditions as delineated in Section 102.009 (c) Local Government Code. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the allocation of the General Fund. budget be increased by $50,000 to fund additional legal and consulting services. .Section 3. That Section 2 of the Budget Ordinance 07-68 be amended to read: That there be and is hereby appropriated the sum of Forty Four Million, Five Hundred Seventy Eight Thousand, Forty Five Dollars ($44,578,045) to the General Fund for the payment of the Operating Expenses, and necessary Capital Outlay for the City Government for the following departments and uses: Denartmentbr Use Administration $ 1,865,239 City Secretary 777,923 City Attorney 481,390 Finance 2,745,342 Human Resources 610,538 Planning and Grants Management 961,989 Community Services 1,748,961 Civic Center 407,299 Parks and Recreation 1,710,807 Library 1,183,814 Police 13,282,319 Fire 9,099,674 Health 877,523 Public Works 7,217,527 Transfer to Other Funds 1,607,700 Total $ 44,578,045 Section 4. That a copy of the caption of this Ordiriance be spread upon the minutes of the City Council. Section 5. That this Ordinance shall be effective immediately.
