INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
DIVISION OF HOUSING & NEIGHBORHOOD REVITALIZATION
DATE: APRIL 14, 2020
TO: RON BURTON, CITY MANAGER
FROM: PAMELA LANGFORD, DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
RE: P.R. 21353
NATURE OF REQUEST:
Grants Management recommends that the City Council adopt Proposed Resolution 21353 to
approve applying with Entergy's Environmental Initiatives Fund(EIF) grant.
STAFF ANALYSIS CONSIDERATIONS:
The City of Port Arthur will request$500,000 of grant funds to remove concrete foundations that
remain after the attached structure was demolished.
Removing the slabs would allow for better drainage in neighborhoods as much of the rainwater
would be absorbed into the ground instead of running off onto neighboring properties or into the
streets.
BUDGET CONSIDERATION:
The Environmental Initiatives Fund grant will provide all budgetary funding.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
I recommend that the City Council adopt Proposed Resolution 21353 that approves applying
with Entergy's EIF grant for$500,000.
