RE: P.R. 21465—Change Order#1 for Repair of Seven Pump Stations in the amount
of$7,211.20
Introduction:
The intent of this agenda item is for City Council's approval of Change Order #1 to Triangle
Rotating Equipment Specialist (TRES) in the amount of$7,211.20 for Repairs to Seven Pump
Stations.
Background:
On February 18, 2020, City Council awarded TRES the contract to repair seven Pump Stations
for the amount of $655,581.97 with Resolution 20-051.We submitted to the contractor in
phases. The ls` phase consisted of 3 of the pump stations with totaled $143,522.97. Gulfway
Underpass Pump Station was in Phasel. Once the contractor went underground, it was
discovered that the piping was rotted. A change order was presented to replace the discharge
piping in the amount of$7,211.20.
Budget Impact:
Amount is charged to the Hurricane Harvey Account# 147-2300-901.84-00 Project#082617.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that the City of Port Arthur City Council approve PR 21465 authorizing the
Change Order#1 with TRES of Orange,TX in the amount of$7,211.20.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE CHANGE
ORDER NO. 1 TO THE CONTRACT WITH TRIANGLE ROTATING EQUIPMENT
SPECIALIST OF ORANGE, TEXAS FOR PHASE I, IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,211.20
FOR REPLACING DISCHARGE PIPING WORK AT GULFWAY UNDERPASS PUMP
STATION. FUNDING IN HURRICANE HARVEY ACCOUNT NO. 147-2300-901.84-
00, PROJECT NO. 082617
WHEREAS, on February 18, 2020 per Resolution No. 20-051, the City Council approved a
contract with Triangle Rotating Equipment Specialist (TRES) of Orange, Texas for the repair of seven
(7) drainage pump stations, for a total of $655,581.97; and,
WHEREAS, the seven (7) locations were given out in three (3) phases and TRES is currently in
Phase 1 which totals $143,522.97 for the three (3) locations; and,
WHEREAS, the original piping underground was rotted so it has to be replaced; and,
WHEREAS, replacing will cost $7,211.20; totaling $150,734.17 for Phase 1 and a new total of
$662,793.17 for all seven locations.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ARTHUR:
Section 1. That, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
Section 2. That, the City Council herein authorizes Change Order No. 1 with Triangle Rotating
Equipment Specialist of Orange, Texas, for Phase 1 in the amount of $7,211.20, a copy of the Change
Order is attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 3. That, a copy of this caption be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
READ, ADOPTED AND APPROVED on this day of June, A.D., 2020, at a Regular
Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, by the following vote:
