No. 21475-Purchase of a Tractor from Kubota Tractor Corporation and Bush Hog Attachment from Beaumont Tractor Company, Inc Introduction: The intent of this Agenda Item is to request the City Council's approval of P.R. No. 21475 authorizing the purchase of a tractor from Kubota Tractor Corporation of Grapevine, Texas in the amount of$39,188.14 and a bush hog attachment from Beaumont Tractor Company, Inc of Beaumont, Texas to help with the mowing areas for the Parks and Recreation Department for a total amount of$44,053.64. Background: The Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for mowing various city properties,parks and right-of-ways. A tractor with a bush hog attachment will allow the department to mow down areas of the city where there is excessive growth. It will also help with clearing areas where the grass is thick and difficult to mow. Purchasing this tractor with a bush hog attachment will allow the department to continue to maintain the mowing areas in shorter amount of time which would increase productivity. Budget Impact: Funds are available in the following account: 625-1801-531.93-07 Recommendation: It is recommended that the City Council approve P.R. No. 21475 authorizing the purchase of a tractor from Kubota Tractor Corporation of Grapevine, Texas in the amount of$39,188.14 and a bush hog attachment from Beaumont Tractor Company, Inc of Beaumont, Texas to help with the mowing areas for the Parks and Recreation Department for a total amount of $44,053.64. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A TRACTOR FROM KUBOTA TRACTOR CORPORATION OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS IN THE AMOUNT OF $39,188.14 AND A BUSH HOG ATTACHMENT FROM BEAUMONT TRACTOR COMPANY, INC. OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,865.50, FOR THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT THROUGH TEXAS BUYBOARD COOPERATIVE PURCHASING CONTRACT NUMBERS 597-19 AND 611-20, IN THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF $44,053.65; FUNDING AVAILABLE IN ACCOUNT NUMBER 625-1801-531.93-07 WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for mowing various city properties, parks and right-of-ways; and, WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department needs equipment to help with mowing areas of the city in a shorter amount of time which will increase productivity; and, WHEREAS, Chapter 271 of the Texas Government Code allows a city, by resolution of its governing body, to participate in cooperative purchasing programs, such as Texas Buyboard, as an alternative to formal bid process;and, WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 02-341,the City of Port Arthur entered into an interlocal agreement for cooperative purchasing with Buyboard Cooperative Purchasing Program; and, WHEREAS, Kubota Tractor Corporation of Grapevine, Texas and Beaumont Tractor Company, Inc of Beaumont, Texas are part of the Buyboard cooperative purchasing program under Contract Numbers 597-17 and 611-20 and submitted a quote for a tractor in the amount of$39,188.14 (attached hereto as Exhibit "A") and bush hog attachment in the amount of$4,865.50 (attached hereto as Exhibit "B")for a total amount of$44,053.64; now,therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council deems it is in the best interest of the City to authorize the purchase of a tractor from Kubota Tractor Corporation of Grapevine, Texas in the amount of$39,188.14 and bush hog attachment from Beaumont Tractor Company, Inc of Beaumont, Texas in the amount of $4,865.50 through Buyboard cooperative purchasing program under Contract Numbers 597-19 and 611- 20, for the total amount of$44,053.64.
