HomeMy WebLinkAboutJUNE 2, 2020 SPECIAL MEETING SPECIAL MEETING — June 2, 2020 I. INVOCATION, PLEDGE & ROLL CALL Councilmember Scott gave the invocation followed with the pledge to the flag. The City Council of the City of Port Arthur met in Regular Session on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, with the following members present: Mayor Thurman "Bill" Bartle; Mayor Pro Tern Charlotte Moses; Councilmembers Raymond Scott, Cal Jones and Harold Doucet, Sr.; City Manager Ron Burton; City Secretary Sherri Bellard; City Attorney Valecia R. Tizeno and Sergeant At Arms Police Chief Tim Duriso. Councilmembers Thomas Kinlaw, III. And Kaprina Frank were absent from the Special Meeting. II. ITEMS REQUIRING INDIVIDUAL ACTION — NON-CONSENT (1) P.O. No. 6869 - An Ordinance By The City Of Port Arthur, Texas ("City") Approving The Settlement Of The Proposed Rate Increase Of Texas Gas Service Company, A Division Of One Gas, Inc. To Increase Rates In The Central Texas Service Area, The Gulf Coast Service Area, And The City Of Beaumont; Finding That The Meeting Complies With The Open Meetings Act; Making Other Findings And Provisions Related To The Subject; And Declaring An Effective Date The Mayor introduced the above-mentioned Proposed Ordinance. Upon the motion of Mayor Pro Tern Moses, seconded by Councilmember Doucet and carried, Proposed Ordinance No. 6869 was adopted becoming Ordinance No. 20-52. Voting Yes: Mayor Bartie; Mayor Pro Tern Moses; Councilmembers Scott, Jones and Doucet. Voting No: None. The caption of Ordinance No. 20-52 reads as follows: ORDINANCE NO. 20-50 AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS ("CITY") APPROVING THE SETTLEMENT OF THE PROPOSED RATE INCREASE OF TEXAS GAS SERVICE COMPANY, A DIVISION OF ONE GAS, INC. TO INCREASE RATES IN THE CENTRAL TEXAS SERVICE AREA, THE GULF COAST SERVICE AREA, AND THE CITY OF BEAUMONT; FINDING THAT THE MEETING COMPLIES WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS ACT; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE (2) P.O. No. 6870 - An Ordinance Extending The Declaration Of Disaster Pursuant To §418.108(B) Of The Texas Government Code The Mayor introduced the above-mentioned Proposed Ordinance. Upon the motion of Councilmember Scott, seconded by Councilmember Jones and carried, Proposed Ordinance No. 6870 was adopted becoming Ordinance No. 20-53. Voting Yes: Mayor Bartie; Mayor Pro Tern Moses; Councilmembers Scott, Jones and Doucet. Voting No: None. The caption of Ordinance No. 20-53 reads as follows: ORDINANCE NO. 20-53 AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE DECLARATION OF DISASTER PURSUANT TO §418.108(B) OF THE TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE III. ADJOURNMENT OF MEETING Upon the motion by Councilmember Jones, seconded by Mayor Pro Tern Moses and carried unanimously, the City Council adjourned their meeting at 11:21 a.m. An audio-tape of this meeting is on file in the office of the City Secretary and is made a part of the official minutes of this meeting.
