otice is hereby given that a Public Hearing of the City Council
of the City of Port Arthur will be held on Tuesday, March 11,
2008 at 7:00 o'clock P.M., in the City Council Chamber, fifth
floor, City Hall, 444 Fourth Street, Port Arthur, Texas, for the purpose of
receiving public comment
PROPOSED CHANGE: Specific Use Permit for a Package Store in a Light
Commercial (LC) District
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: 1.1156 Acres of land out of Lot 5, Bik. 3, RNG G,
Palco, City of Port Arthur, Jefferson County,
Texas (4200 Gulfway Drive)
LOCATION: Located on the corner of Sabine Avenue and
Gulfway Drive.
A precise drawing and description of this property will be presented at the Public
Hearing and can be examined in the City Planning Department, City Hall, Port
Arthur, Texas.

The applicant is requesting a Specific Use Pemut for a Package Store on the property
located at Gulfway Dr.
BACKGROUND:

The applicant proposes to open a Package Store at this location. It would be located in
small strip center containing a convenience store, the package store and three additional
spaces.
PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
The Planning and Zoning Commission met on Monday, February 4, 2008 and considered
this request. They recommended: that this request be denied. They felt that there were
sufficient package stores in that azea currently.
