HomeMy WebLinkAboutSTUDENT ESSAYS (SEPT. 11, 2001) VERNIS COLEMAN MEMORIAL NINTH GRADE CAMPUS 9th GRADE 985-3238 Where do we go from here? I think America should continue to search for Osama Bin Laden. I personally feel that if they do not find him and make him pay for his crimes, all ot the people in the towers would have died in vain. Secondly, I think that the government should help all the families that lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks. Third, I would immediately start to rebuild the towers and the World Trade Center that were destroyed in the attacks on September 11, 2001. I also think the President should pass a law to have more back~ound checks at airport jobs, schools and any other place there is a large amount of people to prevent future terrorist attacks. If America were to catch Osama Bin Laden, I think this would discourage other people who are thinking or willing to take the chance of performing a terrorist attack. I would also try to find as many bodies as I can, find out ~vho they are, and send them to their families to have a proper American burial. We, as Americans, should realize that many people died in the towers and World Trade Center because they were trying to earn a decent living. That is why I think every September 11, everyone should take a moment to pray, meditate, and remember those that lives were lost in the terroris.t attacks. The September 11 incident could have happened anywhere in the United States so I firmly believe that everybody should be living in a way. I also looked at the news a lot to see what was going on and I saw many people that xvere supporting America by buying shirts, caps and flags that sent the God Bless America message. So that should send a message to Osama Bin Laden because if he thinks he hurt us, he needs to recognize that he only made us stronger. September llthoWha~ i~ Me~ns ~o Me Prel~are~l Ebony Collins of Edison Middle School 7th Grade on SEP-05-2002 THU 0~:$5 P~ THOM~$ EDISON September 11'. What is Means to Me What is tragedy? My definition comes in two par~s. First for the lives that were lost, the hopes and dreams cast to earth in fir~, a senseless act of cowardice and immaturity. And they call us kids. Lost forever are fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters. Never again to hear the voices that brought joy to those they loved. What Is the price of life? How much would you pay to see the sun rise in the morning? Life is very precious and should not be taken for granted. My second definition is for the lives that must carry on without them. For the kids that never got to see their parents come home. All ios~ forever in a senseless act. For those who lost loved ones now have emotional wounds that will never heal. Always the ULTIMATE QUESTION, WHY? What compensation can you give to those that will be worth what they lost? But for the terrorist only God can judge them for doing such a terrible thing. Not only did they lose their lives but there chance to go to heaven. TRAGEDY what a price to pay. Sometimes, I think about how strong and powerful the president was when he declared war on Afghanistan. The president showed me that not many presidents could do what he did. Terrorists showed us Shaunte' Moss Woodrow Wilson gth Grade September 5~ 2002 September 11,2001: a call to remembrance Often people do not appreciate the quality of life tmtil something happens. We generally live from day to day without thinking or feeling that our lives could be threatened by danger. A tragedy occurred that affected not only the United Statei physically, but other countries mentally around the world, that some countries have been dealing with on a day-to-day basis. On September 11,2001, the people of America experienced an unforge~able tragedy taken place in the United States of America. To this day, we refuse to forget the impact this disaster caused not only for our country, but any country anywhere. Anyone and everyone is a potential target to any terrorist if that person disagrees with terrorists' beliefs. This well thought out plan destroyed property of New York and Washington D.C. Terrorists in different airports boarded these planes, and everyone was sent out on a mission of destruction. Two planes were ordered to hit the World Trade Center, one hit the Pentagon, and the last one was supposed to hit The White House but fortunately it didn't. Physically the World Trade Twin Towers were destroyed, a section of the Pentago,n__was___da~mag_~ed, a__n_d_ anothe~r plane w___~as __. overtaken by p._ass_engers~-'yighting for their rights, and was flown into the ground in Pennsylvania. Their leader Osama Bin Laden sent thes.? ~m~en on a mission of death. This was a mission, that can only be accomplished by people who had hatred in there hearts, mindj and soul-'.' These people are called terrorists, and they were trained to do xvhat Bin Laden says and their religion practiced. The group of terrorists were called A1-Qada trained by Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind behind everything A1 (~ada did. In his country, (Afghanistan) he taught and preached hatred to anyone that would listen to him. Osama Bin Laden, a man responsible for thousands and thousands of innocent men, women, and children being killed for nothing less than being a citizen of the United States. This selfish act was done because of his hatred for America. Why? Mainly because we are a country with liberties and freedom and our nation believes everyone has their own rights. Bin Laden organized a group of men to hijack planes from the United States but while killing people in the U.S., they would also have to throw there lives away for their religion. Osama Bin Laden yet stayed behind in Afghanistan, while the others went to do their task. The date of September 11,2001 will be remembered forever as the day America was attacked. The goals of these terrorists xvere to destroy America and tO destroy as many lives .as possible. In spite of this terrorist act America united and formed a bond that will always be remembered and treasured. Unfortunately it took this attack to make the people of America come together as a whole. This date gives a new meaning, to the words "United We Stand."
