Re: P O 5863 - An Ordinance Amending the 2007-2008 General Fund Budget
PO 5863 increases the Parks and Recreation. Budget $136,000 to fund additional mowing
costs, this amendment will be funded ~ from fund balance. The PO also increases the
elections budget $30,000 to fund additional election costs. This funding should be provided
by increased cost reimbursement from the other participating entities.

ORDINANCE NO.
AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AMENDING
THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2007 AND ENDING ,
SEPTEMBER 30, 2008 TO FiJND ADDITIONAL
COSTS FOR GRASS MOWING AND ELECTIONS.
WHEREAS, in accordance with Article XII, Section 9, of the City Charter, the City
Council may make emergency appropriations from time to time; and
W1~REAS, the City Council may make budget amendments for emergencies under
Section 102.009 and for Municipal purposes under Section 102.010 Local Government
Code. ~ `
WHEREAS, on September 25, 2007, the City .Council approved and adopted
Ordinance 07-68 which appropriated the 2007-2008 budget; and
WHEREAS, on October 23, 2007, the City Council adopted .Ordinance 07-85,
amending Ordinance 07-68; and
WHEREAS, on December 18, 2007, 'the City Council adopted Ordinance 07-97, r
amending Ordinance 07-68; acid
WHEREAS, on January 29, 2008 the city Council adopted Ordinance 08-14,
amending Ordinance 07-68; and
WHEREAS, on February 21, 2008 the City Council adopted Ordinance 08-22,
amending. Ordinance 08-14, and .
~V`HEREAS, these amendments are necessary for municipal purposes to meet unusual
and unforeseen conditions as delineated in Section 102.009 (c) Local Government Code.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ARTHUR - :
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
Section 2. That the General Fund Budget be increased by a total of $166,000 to fund
increased costs for grass mowing ($136,000) and for increased elections costs ($30,000).
Section 3. That Section 2 of the Budget Ordinance 08-22 be amended to read:
That there be and is hereby appropriated the sum of Forty Four Million, Nine Hundred.
Ninety Four Thousand Ninety Four Thousand and Forty Five Dollars ($44,994,045) for the
