The Parks and Recreation Department recommends that the City Council approve the
purchase of a Ferris (commercial) ZR Mower from U-Rent-All of Orange, TX as the lowest
responsible bidder in the amount of $13,650.00. ,
Backeround
The mowing and maintenance of the city's right-of--ways and parks has been divided between
contractors and the City's forces. The City requested bids for the mowing of groups III
(Stonegate Aiea) and VII (Thomas Blvd). The bids received were 400%+ and 600%+ higher
than what could reasonably be anticipated or budgeted. The Parks and Recreation Department
has assumed the mowing and maintenance of these groups as a cost effective alternative
to accepting the referenced bids. Additional resources are needed in order to assume these
duties. Funding for this purchase was provided pursuant to Ordinance No. 08-30. The staff is
rewmmending the purchase of a Ferris (commercial) ZR Mower.
