A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE SISTER CITIES INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM, THE JUNE 16-19, 2008 ANNIIAL CONFERENCE, AND PROMOTING THE CITY OF PORT ARTHIIR'S INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT BY PARTNERING WITH SUITABLE CITIES IN ASIA, AFRICA, OR OTHER AREAS OF THE WORLD (REQIIESTED BY COUNCILMEMBER BEARD) WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur has numerous industrial and chemical plants with international connections; and WHEREAS, the world economy has an effect on the City, its businesses, and its residents; and WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur is in support of the Sister Cities International Program; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it appropriate to authorize representatives to attend the July 16-19, 2008 Annual Conference and seek information as to partnering with suitable cities in Asia, Africa, and other areas of the world, as delineated in Exhibit "A" NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHIIR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council supports attendance at the July 16-19, 2008 Annual Conference of the Sister Cities International Conference, as delineated in Exhibit "A" z.pr14666 Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the Corporation.
