McMahen, P.E., Director of Public Works P.O. 5298 October 17, 2002 RECOMMENDATZON It is recommended that the City Council approve Proposed Ordinance No. 5298 amending Section 106-121 (One-way Streets Designated) of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Port Arthur which would establish a one-way eastbound only designaUon for Tremont Street from S. 11~ Avenue to S. 13~ Avenue from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the Sabine Pass school. BACKGROUND Staff at Sabine Pass school has requested a one-way designation for Tremont Street from S. 11u~ Avenue to S. 13u~ Avenue during morning and afternoon pick up/drop off hours. School officials have agreed with the recommendation for a one-way eastbound only designation on Tremont. The appropriate signs will be installed by the Electrical Division. BUDGETARY/F~'SCAL EFFECT None STAFFING/EMPLOYEE EFFECT None. BE TI- ORDAINED BY THE CTI'Y COUNCI'L OF THE CTI'Y OF PORT ARTHUR: SECT[ON ~.. Section 106-~.21 of Article V[ (Operation of Vehicle), of Chapter 106 (Traffic) of the Code of Ordinances, City of Port Arthur, Texas, is hereby amended by adding the following subdivision, to-wit: (30) Tremont Street, from its intersection with S. 11~ Avenue to S. 13~ Avenue, vehicular traffic to move in a easterly direction only, 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday during the school year. SECTZON 2. Appropriate signs will be installed as needed to designate the one-way traffic movement. SECTZON 3. Any person, firm or corporation who violates any provision of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than Five Hundred ($500.00) Dollars, and each day such violation shall be permitted to exist shall constitute a separate offense. P.O. No. 5298 Page #2 SECTION 4. All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed but only to the extent of the conflict. $£CT~ON 5. The above provisions are to be inserted in the affected Code of Ordinances, City of Port Arthur, in the sequence required by their designation. $ECTZON 6. This being an Ordinance amending an Ordinance which carries a penalty, it shall be published at least one (1) time within ten (10) days after final passage hereof in the official newspaper of the City of Port Arthur. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately after the date of such publications. THAT, a copy of the caption of this Ordinance be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
