R. #21614 Introduction: Julie Rogers "Gift of Life" Program has requested to extend its 2019 Community Development Block Grant(CDBG) contract expiration date from August 26, 2020,to March 31, 2021. Background: Resolution number 19-188 authorized $5,000 to Gift of Life to conduct its annual Men's Health and Prostate Cancer screening for medically underserved men living in Port Arthur. The Prostate screening outreach was scheduled for June 2020 but was canceled due to COVID- 19 health concerns. Budget Impact: Community Development Block Grant is the funding source. Recommendation: It is recommended that the City Council approve the P. R. #21614. P. R. 21614 09/29/2020 MEE RESOLUTION NUMBER A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AMEND THE 2019 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) CONTRACT WITH JULIE ROGERS "GIFT OF LIFE" PROGRAM. THE AMENDMENT WILL EXTEND THE CONTRACT EXPIRATION DATE FROM AUGUST 26, 2020 TO MARCH 31, 2021 (ACCOUNT NUMBER 105-1431-552.59-00; PROJECT#C45102). WHEREAS,Resolution number 19-188 authorized $5,000 (ACCOUNT NUMBER 105-1431-552.59-00; PROJECT#C45102) to Julie Rogers"Gift of Life" Program for the Prostate Cancer testing outreach; and, WHEREAS, Gift of Life had scheduled to conduct its annual Prostate Cancer screening in June 2020, but was canceled due to health safety concerns related to COVID-19 (see Exhibit#1); and, WHEREAS, the City Council is required to designate an official to sign all documents in connection with the amendment; now,therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT the City Manager is authorized to amend the Gift of Life Community Development Block Grant contract. The amendment will extend the contract's expiration date from August 26, 2020, to March 31, 2021. THAT a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of the City Council.
