A RESOLUTION RATIFYING THE CONTRACT ENTERED INTO BETWEEN THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR SECTION 4A ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION AND TOTAL SAFETY FOR CONSULTING SERVICES FOR ADDITIONAL ASBESTOS PROJECT FOR THE FORMER PORT ARTHUR NEWS BUILDING LOCATED AT 549 4TH STREET IN PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS FOR THE LUMP SUM AMOUNT OF $9,290.00; FUNDS AVAILABLE IN EDC ACCOUNT NO. 305-1606-591.82-00 WHEREAS, Total Safety submitted a proposal on September 30, 2020, to provide environmental consulting services and a final report for the removal of asbestos containing exterior vapor barrier mastic from select elevated exterior wall surface on the south side and east/west ends of the building, and the removal of asbestos containing window caulking from two windows on the east end of the building, and removal of asbestos containing transited from the elevator shaft on the roof'; and WHEREAS, Total Safety has successfully monitored previous removal of the asbestos, lead and mold abatement and interior demolition at the former Port Arthur News Building; and WHEREAS, the cost for Total Safety to providing the consulting services for the removal of asbestos containing exterior vapor barrier mastic from select elevated exterior wall surface on the south side and east/west ends of the building, and the removal of asbestos containing window caulking from two windows on the east end of the building, and removal of asbestos containing transited from the elevator shaft on the roof was $9,290.00 as shown in Exhibit "A". NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Port Arthur hereby ratifies the agreement between PAEDC and Total Safety for the lump sum price of $9,290.00 attached hereto as Exhibit"A". Section 3.
