Introduction:
The intent of this Agenda Item is to request a public hearing to consider a zoning change
from Single Family (SF) to Light Commercial (LC) for approximately 0.6457-acre of
Land, Lots 1 and 2, Block 22, Griffing Residential Park Subdivision, Port Arthur,
Jefferson County, Texas.
The purpose of this request is to allow for the construction of a multiple family
development (i.e., apartment complex).
Background:
The Planning & Zoning Commission reviewed this case on November 16, 2020.
Budget Impact:
None
Recommendation:
It is recommended that City Council approve P.R. No. 21673, calling for a public hearing
to consider a zoning change from Single Family (SF) to Light Commercial for
approximately 0.6457-acre of Land, Lots 1 and 2, Block 22, Griffing Residential Park

A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO
CONSIDER GRANTING A ZONING CHANGE FROM SINGLE
FAMILY TO LIGHT COMMERCIAL FOR APPROXIMATELY
0.6457-ACRE OF LAND, LOTS 1 AND 2, BLOCK 22, GRIFFING
RESIDENTIAL PARK SUBDIVISION, PORT ARTHUR,
JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS
WHEREAS, it is being requested that City Council consider a zoning change for
the area delineated in Exhibit "A" from Single Family "SF" to Light Commercial "LC"; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant of Chapter 211 in the Texas Local Government Code, a
public hearing must precede any zoning change.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT ARTHUR:
THAT the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
THAT the Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed this case on November 16,
2020.
THAT a public hearing to consider whether to grant the zoning change request for
approximately 0.6457-Acre Tract of Land, Lots 1 and 2, Block 22, Griffing Residential
Park Subdivision, Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas, as delineated in Exhibit "A" shall
be held on December 22, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, Fifth Floor,
City Hall, 444 Fourth Street.
THAT notice of the public hearing shall be published at least fifteen days prior in
the official newspaper of the City before going to the City Council.
THAT a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the
City Council.
