McMahen, P.E., Director of Public Works DATE: November 6, 2002 SUB3ECT: Report on Vactor Truck OperaUon - Drainage The Public Works - Drainage Division has two (2) Vactor trucks for the purpose of assisting in the maintenance of the City's 180-mile storm sewer system. One truck works in conjunction with the two Gradall crews as they work on their ongoing schedule for regrading open ditches, The Vactor track cleans out driveway culverts, street crossing and any underground storm sewer components in the area, The second Vactor truck is not assigned a fulI-Ume operator, but is used when our slope mower operator is unable do perform his duties dudng or after rain events. This unit will be used to work areas that may have experienced problems during past rain events, in areas of heavy leaf/debris accumulation, etc. There is not a set schedule for either of the units. Both units are used during rain events and are on call to any Drainage or Street Division crew that may determine the need for the units to clear slow draining catch basins, storm sewers or culverts.
