RE: P.R. 21730: Permanent Scale Installation—Change Order#1 for the installation of
three concrete piers in the amount of$20,651.00 at the City of Port Arthur Municipal
Landfill.
Introduction:
The intent of this agenda item is to authorize the City Manager to execute Change Order #1 for the
installation of three piers to the contract with Perry Construction of Cypress, Texas for the installation
of permanent scales at the City of Port Arthur's Municipal Landfill for the amount from$20,651.00.
Background:
Pursuant to Resolution 20-261, the City of Port Arthur's City Council authorized the City Manager to
enter into a contract with Perry Construction of Cypress,Texas for the installation of a permanent scale
at the City of Port Arthur Landfill for the amount of$267,125.00. Under Resolution 20-359, City
Council approved amending the original contract amount by $5,200.00 due to the increased cost of
concrete from the original contract amount $267,125.00 to the new contract amount of$272,325.00.
Change Order#1 is being presented by Perry Construction of Cypress, Texas for the addition of three
concrete piers for the amount of$20,651.00, changing the original contract amount of$272,325.00 to
the new contract amount of$292,976.00.
Budget Impact:
Funds for this project is available in Landfill Account No. 625-1801-533.92-00.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that the City of Port Arthur City Council approve PR 21730 authorizing the City
Manager to execute Change Order #1 for the installation of three piers to the contract with Perry
Construction of Cypress, Texas for the installation of permanent scales at the City of Port Arthur's
Municipal Landfill for the amount from$20,651.00.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
CHANGE ORDER #1 TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN PERRY
CONSTRUCTION OF CYPRESS, TEXAS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF THREE
ADDITIONAL CONCRETE PIERS TO THE PERMANENT SCALE
CONSTRUCTION AT THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR MUNICIPAL LANDFILL
INCREASING THE CONTRACT AMOUNT BY $20,651.00 TO A NEW
CONTRACT AMOUNT OF $292,976.00. FUNDING IS AVAILABLE IN
ACCOUNT NO. 625-1801-533.92-00.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 20-261, City Council authorized the City Manager to
enter into a contract with Perry Construction of Cypress,Texas for the installation of a permanent
scale at the City of Port Arthur Landfill for the amount of $267,125.00; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution 20-359, City Council approved amending the original
contract amount by $5,200.00 due to the increased cost of concrete from the original contract
amount $267,125.00 to the new contract amount of $272,325.00; and,
WHEREAS, Change Order #1 is being presented by Perry Construction of Cypress, Texas
for the addition of three concrete piers in the amount of $20,651.00, changing the original
contract amount of $272,325.00 to the new contract amount of $292,976.00, See Exhibit A;
and,
WHEREAS, approval of Change Order #1 to the contract between Perry Construction of
Cypress, Texas is herein deemed an appropriate action; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
THAT, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and,

THAT, the City Council of the City of Port Arthur hereby authorizes the City Manager to
execute Change Order #1 for the installation of three concrete piers to the contract for the
installation of a Permanent Scale with Perry Construction of Cypress, Texas; and,
THAT, Change Order #1 increases the original contract amount by $20,651.00 from the
original contract amount of $272,325.00 to the new contract amount of $292,976.00; and,
THAT, funds are available in the Capital Account 625-1801-533.92-00; and,
THAT, a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City
Council.
