~ Sta~s of new equipment for producing text on Government Informat~n Channel (Cable 4)
Attached is a copy of an e-mail sent to Bill McKee, General Manager at Time-Warner
Cable requesting assistance in switching to the new method of text presentation for
Cable Channel 4 (Government Information Channel) now in use by the PAISD.
I have had no response from Mr. McKee. I did speak to Mr. Gary Underwood at
Time-Warner yesterday (Thursday, November 7) and he promised to research it and
get back to me. I have not heard Eom him at this time (2:30 p.m.) and have a call in
to him.
Additional information should be forthcoming before Tuesday and I will forward any
response received for the Council's information.

Subject: Character Generator for City Channel (Cable 4)
Mike,
I spoke with your secretary on Friday and perhaps she has passed
along this information. Janet has a new character generator for the
Education Channel (Cable 7) which is computer based. I have asked a
number of times for such a system when it became available. We are in
constant fear of the old blue boxes going down here and at the head
station simultaneously. We got a UPS for the box here but it only holds
for half an hour or so. --
In addition to the security of our work, there is the issue of
presentation. Councilman Linden spoke ofthe difference at last City
Council meeting and wants a report on how we can get what P^ISD has at
their November 12th meeting. The new graphics, colors, and overall
presentation are worlds apart from our current capabilities.
Can you give us a hand? Debra Campbell (who currently maintains our
system) is required to go to a different office to work on the pages and
this takes her away from her phone. There is not enough room in her
office for the present equipment. I hope the software could be loaded
onto her current computer (it was purchased last year) and we would save
some office space.
Please let me know what we can do. I need something to tell the
Manager and Council.
Thanks -- Ray
