RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend that the City Council adopt Proposed Resolution # 14747, authorizing the
Port Arthur Police Department to accept a donation of fourteen thousand seven hundred'
seventy nine dollazs and three cents ($14,779.03) to be used by the Police Department to
purchase Vehicle Emergency Equipment for,the purpose of Traffic Direction and Safety.
BACKGROUND:
Vema Rutherford, External Affairs Manager for MOTIVA, on behalf of MOTIVA,
wishes to donate $14,779.03 to the City of Port Arthur; to be used by the Police
Department's Field Operations Division to purchase Vehicle Emergency Equipment in a
joint effort between MOTNA and the Port Arthur Police Department, for Traffic
Direction and Safety during MOTNA's period of expansion.
BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT:
Acceptance of this recommendation will be beneficial to the Port Arthur Police
Department and will save the Department $14,779.03.
STAFF/EMPLOYEE EFFECT:
Acceptance of this recommendation will have no effect on staffing levels.
SUMMARY:
I recommend that the City Council adopt Proposed Resolution #14747, authorizing the
Port Arthur Police Department to accept the donation from MOTNA for the purchase of
Vehicle Emergency Equipment for the purpose of Traffic Direction and Safety.

$14,779.03 FROM MOTIVA FOR THE PURCHASE OF VEHICLE
EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF TRAFFIC DIRECTION
AND SAFETY
WHEREAS, Verna Rutherford, External Affairs Manager for MOTNA, on
behalf of MOTNA, wishes to donate Fourteen Thousand Seven Hundred Seventy Nine
Dollars and Three Cents ($14,779.03) to the City of Port Arthur to be used by the Police
Department's Field Operations Division to purchase Vehicle Emergency Equipment in a
joint effort between IvIOTNA and the Port Arthur Police Department, for traffic
direction and safety during MOTNA's period of expansion; and
WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur desires to accept this donation from
MOTNA, to be used by the Police, Departments Field Operations Division,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR
THAT the City Council, acting on behalf of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, does
hereby accept the Fourteen Thousand Seven Hundred Seventy Nine Dollazs and Three
Cents ($14,779.03), for the Police Department's Field Operations Division, and hereby
thanks MOTNA for their donation; and
THAT a copy of the caption of this resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the
City Council.
READ, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this day of , 2008, at a
Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, by the following
