COMMENDATION:
recommend that the City Council award the bid for annual purchase of Drainage materials - HIGH-
NSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) PIPE to HD Supply.- Waterworks and Coburn's Supply both of
aumont, Texas as listed below. These materials will. be utilized. by the Public Works Department,
jinage Division for storm sewer construction and maintenance and projects funded under the CDBG
BACKGROUND:.-
This is an annual contract for HDPE PIPE that will be used by the Drainage Division for maintenance
and construction. Bids were received and opened for. these materials dh April 23, 2Q08. `Bids were
received from three vendors, HD Supply -Waterworks, Coburn's Supply, and ACTpipe Supply.

This material is easier to handle and install than the reinforced. concrete pipe (RCP) that we have
historically used for a savings in labor and time. In addition, -HDPE is on average 54% less
expensive than our current prices. for RCP.

We recommend that the City Council award the bid for annual purchase of Drainage materials -.HIGH-
DENSITY POLYET-HYLENE (HDPE) PIPE fo HD Supply -Waterworks and Coburn's Supply both of
Beaumont, Texas as listed above. These materials will. be utilized by the Pubiic Works Department,
Drainage Division for storm sewer construction and maintenance and projects funded under the CDBG
program. ,These bids-will be in effect for approximately one (1) year.
