Re: P O 5897 - An Ordinance Amending the 2007-2008 Budget
PO 5897 increases the Solid Waste Fund Budget $19,962 to fund two (2) additional
Equipment Operator I positions for the remainder of this. fiscal year. The budget amendment
also increases the budget of the Equipment Replacement Fund $251,110 to fund an
additional residential garbage unit.

ORDINANCE NO.
AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AMENDING
THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR
BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2007 AND ENDING
SEPTEMBER 30, 2008 TO FUND ADDITIONAL
STAFF AND EQUIPMENT FOR RESIDENTIAL
GARBAGE COLLECTION '
WI-IEREAS, in accordance with Article XII, Section 9, of the City Charter, the City
Council may make emergency appropriations from time to time; and
WI-IEREAS, the City Council may make budget amendments for emergencies under
Section 102.009 and for Municipal purposes under Section 102.010 Local Government
Code.
WHEREAS, on September 25, 2007, the City Council approved and adopted
Ordinance 07-68 which appropriated the 2007-2008 budget; and
WHEREAS, on October 23, 2007, the City Council adopted Ordinance 07-85,
amending Ordinance 07-68; and
WHEREAS, on December 18, 2007, the City Council adopted Ordinance 07-97,
amending Ordinance 07-68; and
WHEREAS, on January 29, 2008 the City Council adopted Ordinance 08-14,
amending Ordinance 07-68; and
WHEREAS, on. February 21, 2008 the City Council adopted Ordinance 08-22,
amending Ordinance 07-68, and
WI~EREAS, on March 17, 2008 the City Council adopted Ordinance 08-30, amending
Ordinance 07-68, and
WHEREAS, on May 7, 2008 the. City Council adopted Ordinance 08-49, amending
Ordinance 07-68, and
WHEREAS, on May 20, 2008 the City Council adopted Ordinance 08-53 amending
Ordinance 07-68, and
WHEREAS, these amendments are necessary for municipal purposes to meet unusual
and unforeseen conditions as delineated in Section 102.009 (c) Local Government Code.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ARTHUR
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
Section 2. That the Solid Waste Fund be increased by $19,962 to fund two (2)
positions in residential garbage collection.
Section 3. That Section 5 of the Budget Ordinance 07-68 be amended to read:
That there be and is hereby appropriated the sum of Six Million, Seven Hundred Fifty
Nine Thousand, Six Hundred Fifty Four Dollars ($6,759,654) for the payment of the
Operating Expenses, and necessary Capital Outlay for the Solid Waste Department.
Section 4. That the Equipment Replacement Fund Budget by increased by $251,110
to fund additional equipment for residential garbage service.
Section 5. That Sectioh 8 of the Budget Ordinance 07-68 be amended to read:
That there be and is herby appropriated the sum of One Million, Seven Hundred
Twelve Thousand, Seven Hundred Seventy Eight Dollars ($1,712,778) to the Equipment
Replacement Fund for the purchase of capital equipment.
Section 6. That a copy of the caption of this. Ordinance be spread upon the minutes
of the City Council.
Section 7. That this Ordinance shall be effective immediately.

Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas by the following vote:
