RECOMMENDATION:
The Equipment Services Division recommends the City Council to award the Annual Contract for
supplying Lubricants and Greases for the City's rolling equipment to Derrick Oil & Supply of Port
Arthur, Texas for the estimated annual amount of $42,510.29.
BACKGROUND:
Bid packages were mailed to nine (9) vendors and the City advertised for bids in the Port Arthur News
April 2008. On April 16, 2008, the City received four (4) bids to furnish various lubricants and greases
for the City's rolling equipment. Bids were received from the following four (4) vendors:
Derrick Oil & Supply
Tri-Con Supply
Universal Lubricants
Pumpelly Oil Co
The detailed responses by the four (4) vendors are included as attachment #l. The analysis of bids

Demck Oil 8c Supply submitted the most responsive bid, which will provide-the lowest overall cost to the
City of Port Arthur. This award represents an average product increase over fiscal year 2007 of 21% and
.Equipment Services Division figures an estimated usage increase of approximately 16%.
BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT:
This. item was approved by City, Council in the fiscal year 2008 budget for various departments and
divisions as objectcode 2400, vehicle lubrication. •
